Be sure to see the Raclawice Panorama, which depicts the Battle of Raclawice that took place during the Kosciuszko Uprising in the 1790s.

This city is beautiful, inexpensive, and is filled with plenty to do. Krakow is a student city and one of the biggest tourist destinations in the country (people love coming here to party). Expect to pay around 550 PLN for a guide. Admission is free, but the experience is much more meaningful with a guide who can provide context. Wear comfortable shoes as there is a lot of walking and keep in mind you’re allowed to take photographs but be considerate that this is a somber place. A visit here is sobering but shouldn’t be missed.
When the camp was liberated in 1945, there were just 7,000 people there, many of whom were incredibly ill or sick. Approximately 1.3 million people were sent here and an astounding 1.1 million of them were killed. Auschwitz-Birkenau is the site of a former concentration camp used by the Nazis during World War II.
